Palmyard Hotel
Founded by Bahraini entrepreneur Amr Al-Rumaihi in the 1970s, Palmyard – near Adliya’s uber-walkable dining district Block 338 – has been impressively revived into one of the island’s few truly homegrown boutique hotels by his son Khalid, who left a career in government to focus on his lifelong passion for hospitality. Now dressed in tropical whites, swaying palms and a splash of Riviera flair, the resort’s breezy rooms are wrapped around a palm-shaded courtyard anchoring three of Bahrain’s hottest tables: Masso, a moody French-Italian hideout with flickering fairy lights and handmade pastas drawing in a loyal local crowd; The Orangery, an elegant, garden-style tearoom pouring Earl Grey alongside tall slices of strawberry gateau; and buzzy, after-dark Latin American haunt Circa, where the cocktails are strong, the ceviche citrusy, and the DJ sets carry well into the early hours.
Address: Palmyard Hotel, 338 Shaikh Isa Avenue, Manama
